Roger Martin gains HPT Route 66 Main Adventure

Roger Martin gains HPT Route 66 Main Adventure

For one thing, Grand Junction, Colorado's Roger Martin was the latter player to seize Heartland Poker Tour honor at the Route 66 Main Adventure in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Martin survived a ground of less than 100 participants in the $1,650 No Limit Hold'em Re-entry for the top fee of $39,082 and HPT dignity.

Martin's first major career live gain emerged when he raised to 70,000 with A♠ Q and Cruz Baca went all in with two red nines. Martin made a call, the participants boarded their hands and Martin gathered a pair of queens on a Q♠ 6♠ 4♠ flop to get the dominance. The Q eliminated Martin's preference and left Baca crippling to only a nine to stay in the play. The river showed the 2♣ and Baca became the second place ender.

Moreover, Charles Vargas gathered his first HPT win when he left the final table as the ninth position ender at the hands of the soon-to-be winner. Vargas raised to 17,500 from under the gun, Norman Michalek made a call from middle place and Martin went all in. Vargas made a call; Michalek discovered his hand and the two participants boarded their hands. Vargas kept K K opposite Martin's A♠ A. A flop of K♣ T♠ 8♣ pulled Vargas back in the dominance but the A on the turn pulled Martin back on the lead. Vargas needed to seize the lone leaving king in the deck to stay in the tourney but the 9♠ on the river trimmed the ground down to eight participants.

Thomas Montoya also gathered his first HPT win as the eighth position ender. Kris Wagner raised to 25,000 from middle place and Montoya pulled all in. John Michalak went all in for more and Wagner was excluded. Montoya flipped up 7 7♣ and Michalak showed A A. Montoya failed to seize the needed cards when the table ran out A♠ 6 5♣ K J and he was excluded.

Like Vargas and Montoya, Michalek also kept his first HPT money when he got out of the way being as seventh position finisher. Michalek disclose shipped from the cutoff and Craig Casino made a call from the button. Michalek boarded T♣ 7 and Casino pulled A♣ T. The table was full of Q♣ Q 8 T♠ 5 and Michalek left the play.

Soon, Wagner ended the play, as the fifth position ender when he pulled his A 6 into Casino's A [Jhs]. Casino finished from the small blind and Wagner went all in. Casino made a call, the table was spread K♣ J 6♠ 8 5♠ and Wagner's action was finished.

Casino, who was the only HPT dignity keeper as the final table, gathered his tenth HPT fee as the fourth position ender. As for Allen Kessler's third position exclusion, it was his highest HPT ending as of yet. Kessler pulled all in from the small blind with 7 6 and Baca made a call with A 8♠. The table ran out 5♣ 2♠ 2 K♣ A and Kessler's deep race was completed.
